Are your employees’ tattoos turning away business?

Many of today’s marketing is based on exotic lifestyles which include Tattoos. As our young people embark on a path of freedom, many make the decision to get tattooed, but they do not think about the effect a tattoo may have on their job prospects.

This is post is not intended to bash tattoos, as I have a few myself; but this is a post to get employers to take the time and discuss or create a dialog about tattoos with their employees.

CNN reported that 36% of all American ages 18 to 29 have at least one tattoo.

What employers and their staff members must be mindful of is where that tattoo is placed and if it can be considered offensive by customers.

For instance, would your customer feel comfortable making their bank deposit to someone with a spider web tattooed across their hand?

Business owners must look at their customer base and decide if they will be a moderate or a conservative organization, when it comes to tattoos.
